The National Taxpayers Association (NTA) had a strategic meeting with the Cabinet Secretary at the National Treasury offices in Nairobi, attended also by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), to explore areas of collaboration ahead of the upcoming National Taxpayers Conference (NTC) scheduled for October 2025.

During the discussions, the government noted that the Treasury will also be hosting its own tax conference around the same period and suggested the possibility of synchronizing the two events, though this proposal is yet to be agreed upon.
The CS emphasized that public visibility and engagement on budget implementation remain key priorities for the Treasury. He highlighted the need to strengthen public confidence in fiscal governance by ensuring citizens are fully engaged in understanding how tax revenues are mobilized and utilized.
In line with NTA’s mission of advocating for government accountability and promoting taxpayer-responsive governance, the meeting underscored joint efforts in:
• Citizen Engagement – Empowering taxpayers through awareness and education to boost tax morale and participation in budget formulation.
• Public Finance Management Oversight – Enhancing transparency in revenue collection and tackling illicit financial flows.
• Social Accountability – Improving service delivery and ensuring public funds absorption drives inclusive development.
• Advocacy & Policy Influence – Shaping tax policies that are equitable, particularly in health and wealth taxation, to reduce inequalities.
The CS welcomed the partnership, noting that NTA will serve as a focal point for periodic engagement between the Treasury and taxpayers to strengthen collaboration, increase visibility, and foster public trust.
The October NTC will therefore provide a platform for inclusive dialogue on critical themes such as tax justice, economic growth, human rights, and sustainable financing for health and social protection, bringing together government, civil society, development partners, the private sector, and citizens.
