NTA in collaboration with Kisumu County government, Maendeleo ya Wanawake and other Civil Society Organizations organized for a March in commemoration of the International women’s day on the 12th of March 2020.The march aimed at advocating for the recognition of womens rights and reducing gender inequalities including gender tax inequalities. The March targeted approximately 500 women in Kisumu Central, however, those who managed to join the walk were approximately 300 women. Banners, placards and t-shirts, were designed and branded with the theme of International Women’s day, 2020.
NTA later joined the County government after the walk in an event that was led by H.E Professor Anyang Nyong’o and the First Lady. In attendance were other County Officials; CEC Education Dr. John Ogone, CEC Health Proffesor. Atyang, Chief Officer Youth & Social Services Mr. Kadiri and the Director youth and social services Mr. George Orude. The event was reported by Nation newspaper on the 13th of March 2020 with the reporting titled “Marching for a better life for women”.
