Health Services Citizen’s Report Card

In 2008/09 the National Taxpayers Association (NTA) undertook research across Kenya to gain a more in-depth understanding of citizens’ access to quality health services at government health facilities. The NTA is a national, independent and non-partisan organization committed to working in partnership with the Government of Kenya and stakeholders to promote transparency, effectiveness and accountability in the use of government/taxpayers resources in the delivery of services and the management of devolved funds.

The NTA undertook research on health services at frontline health facilities based on:

  1. feedback from citizens that health was a priority service to be improved;
  2. the prominence of health as a development issue in national media; and,
  3. the importance of access to quality health services for socio-economic development and the achievement of Vision 2030.
